Forensic Accounting
As a Forensic Accountant our role is usually to analyse, interpret, summarise and present complex financial data and business related issues in a manner which is understandable, properly supported and documented and suitable for use in a Court of Law.
Forensic Accounting and Litigation Support Services are a specialist practice area of accountancy and we have often been called to give expert evidence at eventual Court hearings.
As Forensic accountants we utilise our understanding of business information and financial reporting systems, accounting and auditing standards as well as our vast experience in evidence gathering, investigative techniques and litigation processes and procedures to perform our work. Our analysis and reports will usually form the basis for discussion, debate and the ultimate goal of dispute resolution.
Areas in which we provide Forensic Accounting and Litigation Support Services include:-
- Business economic loss reviews where disagreements may arise in assessing business valuations on purchase or sale of a company, property losses and employee claims.
- Shareholders' and Partnership Disputes where unresolved issues may arise in respect of benefits and amounts due or received by each of the disputing shareholders or partners.
- Martial and family law with regards to the valuation of assets for spousal support purposes, determining income available for child support and equitable distribution of assets. The assets to be valued may included businesses, property or other assets.
- insurance claims and personal injury claims with regards to quantifying an economic loss that has occurred as a result of an accident or property loss and providing advice on the appropriate methods of calculating and quantifying losses.
